Light tackle - Speckled trout
Speckled trout are one my favorite fish to catch! Speckled trout can be caught all year. The fall through spring are usually the best times. The BIG TROUT are also easier to catch at this time. Puppy drum, flounder, and stripers are also in the same waters as speckled trout. Most of my speckled trout charters will be in Pamlico, Pungo, and Neuse rivers. I will keep up with the fish and let you know what is biting best.
Striped bass
Striped bass fishing can be good year round. The most consistent fishing for stripers will be from December to April on the lower Roanoke. There are a lot of stripers caught at this time. Trips with 50 plus stripers are common. There are also a lot of hickory shad caught in the late winter and spring in the Roanoke. The Pamlico, Tar, Pungo, and Alligator rivers can also be excellent at this time.
Big Drum, “Bull Reds”
Pamlico Sound - Catch and release only
North Carolina has the biggest red drum in the world. The prime time for big reds is August - September. Daytime and nighttime charters are good. The Pamlico sound is full of big drum at this time. Most of my charters will be out of Hobucken and Oriental. The size of most drum caught will be 40-50 inches. If you like to catch big fish, this is for you. There are days when 10-15 bull reds are landed. Book your charters now for prime time big drum fishing!
The maximum number of anglers on all charters is 3.

Boat
The boat you will be fishing on is a sv2100cc sea pro bay boat. It is powered by a 150 HPDI Yamaha. It is an excellent inshore boat.
All fishing gear and tackle will be provided. You will need to bring drinks and food. Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, and a rain coat are recommended. A saltwater license is provided for you. I will let you know if you need to purchase a freshwater license.
